Charles F. Mixon, 74, of Irwinville died, Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at his residence.
Funeral Services will be held 4 P.M., Thursday, March 20, at Big Creek Baptist Church in Irwin County with Rev. Tracy Clements and Rev. Wayne McCrimmon officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Wilcox County. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Mixon was born November 8, 1933 in Irwinville to the late Russell and Inez Hogan Mixon. He was a farmer and lived in the community most of his life. Mr. Mixon was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean War era and the Vietnam War era. He attended Big Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Mixon is survived by his wife, Marjorie D. Mixon; son, Steve Mixon; daughter, Jennifer Mixon all of Irwinville; grandchildren, Hope Stringer, Brandon Stringer and Caitlin Stringer; great grandchild, Logan Harper; aunt, Fran Dismuke of Irwinville and caregiver, Nancy Jolley of Fitzgerald. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Clements Mixon.
