Thomas F. Pollard, age 76, of Estero, FL, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Sunday at his daughter's home in Mystic.
He was born in Ireland, son of the late Michael and Ellen (Cahill) Pollard. Thomas is survived by his children, Lauren Pollard of Arlington, MA, Karen Pollard Murphy and her husband Michael of Watertown, CT, Bonnie Pollard-Johnson and her husband David, of Mystic, Shawn Pollard of Estero, FL. He is also survived by his beloved grandson, Nicholas Spencer Johnson, of Mystic, and his former wife, Joan Pollard of Naples, FL.
Thomas was predeceased by 2 brothers Maurice Pollard of Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland, and Michael Pollard of London, England.
He was also survived by 12 siblings, Greta O'Farrell of Dunmore East, County Waterford, Ireland, Joseph Pollard of Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland, Kitty Samarakoon of Dublin, Ireland, Christina Breen of Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland, Eileen Culligan of Hayes, England, Anna Bauer of Clonmel, County Tiperrary, Ireland, Larry Pollard, of Waterford City, County Waterford, Ireland, Maureen Kinane, of Killenaule, County Tipperary, Ireland, Breda Brady of Cahir, County Tipperary, Ireland, Kieran Pollard of Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland, Patrick Pollard, of Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland and Martina O'Brien of Ealing, England, and many nieces and nephews.
Thomas left his home in Ireland at the age of 19. He lived in Canada before emigrating to the United States where he served in The US Army during the Korean conflict. After his retirement from the City of Newton after 31years, he enjoyed living in Florida and wonderful summers in Ireland.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Brian Romanowski at St. Patrick Church, East Main Street, Mystic on Friday at 10am. There are no visiting hours.
