Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Capt. Daniel S. Brown, 45, died peacefully Saturday afternoon, February 9, 2008 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a long, valiant battle with cancer. He was the loving companion of Dena E. Krukonis of Gloucester.
Born in Oceanside, California on April 17, 1962, he was the son of the late Virgil Brown.
Following graduation from the Olalla High School in Washington, Dan went to sea and began a long eventful career as a fisherman and sea captain. He graduated from the Maritime Academy and became an officer in the Merchant Marines. Dan fished all over the world including the North Sea and Baltic Sea for Alaska king crab.
His was truly a life of adventure. Dan’s last endeavor was as a captain for Seacor Marine, LLC ferrying supplies to drilling rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. His greatest joy of late was returning home to his loving little boy, Hunter. They truly shined together.
In addition to Dena and Hunter, he is survived by his daughter, Danielle Brown, three sisters, Diane, Morgan and Constance, two uncles, Joseph and David all of Washington.
A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2008 in the Independent Christian Church, Unitarian Universalist, Middle Street, Gloucester at 3 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
