Mayrose (Smith) Noonan, age 89 died Thursday December 13, 2007, at 2:45am at Baypointe Nursing Home in Brockton surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. She was the loving wife of the late Sgt. Joseph B. Noonan who served 38 years of distinguished service on the Brockton Police Department. They had been married for over 53 years.
Mayrose was born March 29, 1918 and raised in Brockton a daughter of the late Patrick and Katherine (Smith) Smith of Brockton. She had attended St. Patrick School grades 1-8 and was a 1937 graduate of Brockton High School. She received her bachelor’s degree from Regis College in Weston, MA in 1941. She was fluent in five languages. For several years following her graduation she was a teacher for Taunton Public Schools. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who stayed home to care for her family. She had been an active communicant of St. Patrick Church and Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Brockton and St. Elizabeth Seton in N. Falmouth. She enjoyed cooking, reading and spending time at her West Falmouth home with her children and grandchildren.
She was the beloved mother of Atty Gerald Joseph Noonan and his wife Gail (Gagnon) of N. Easton and Kevin P. Noonan and his wife Cheryl (Casano) of Easton; cherished grandmother of Sean Patrick Noonan of Brooklyn, NY; Ryan Alexander Noonan of Mt. Laurel, NJ; Brendan Joseph Noonan and Patrick John Noonan both of North Easton; Jason and Ashley Noonan both of Easton and a brother-in-law John S. Noonan of Ft. Wayne, IN. She was the sister of the late John F. Smith of Yarmouth.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 9am. Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, 193 Main St., N. Easton at 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8pm.
