Worcester – Ann R. (Smith) Cote, 90, of Worcester died on Thursday, December 6 in Saint Vincent Hospital after an illness.
Ann is survived by her husband Arthur H. Cote of Auburn; a son Arthur H. Cote III of Worcester with whom she lived and was her caregiver for many years; two daughters Auburn School Teacher Judith A. Burke of Auburn and Kathleen A. Cote of East Douglas; a grandson Christopher Burke of Brooklyn, CT; several nephews and nieces including a special niece Helen Rancke of Leicester and two loving friends Ann Young and Pantaleo Goodwin who helped care for Ann over the past year in her home.
She was born in Worcester daughter of Michael and Anna (Kropieronicha) Smith and is predeceased by eight brothers and sisters. Ann is a graduate of Commerce High School and worked for many years at the former Denholm’s Department Store and was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and also was a lover of cats and her pet bird.
The funeral will be held on Monday, December 10 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a Mass at 10 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church 600 Cambridge St. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are on Sunday December 9, from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League 139 Holden St. Worcester, MA 01606.
