Obituary

BEVERLY: Roy E. Curran, 75, died peacefully at his home on Monday, December 3, 2007 following a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Mary N. (Donlon) Curran.
Born in Lynn on May 25, 1932, he was the son of the late Roy E. Curran and the late Cora B. (Horne) Cann and her husband John H. Cann. He was a graduate of Lynn Vocational High School and had resided in Lynn for many years before moving to Beverly in 1958. A U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he was honorably discharged in July of 1958, following over eight years of service.
Roy was employed as the facilities manager at New England Biolabs in Beverly for twenty years before retiring in 1995. He had also once worked as a carpenter for the former Lynn Local Union and at the General Electric Co., River Works Plant in Lynn working on jet engines. He loved to build and fly model airplanes and was member of the RC Aces and 107th Flyers Club. He also enjoyed traveling the United States with his wife in their motor home and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his loving wife of fifty-two years, he is survived by a son, Roy E. Curran, III of Beverly, a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia F. and Peter A. Brotchie of Wenham, seven grandchildren, Andrew, Julia and Cassie Curran and Elizabeth, Matthew, John and Lilli Brotchie all of Wenham, four brothers, Robert and his wife, Dorothy Curran of Naples, FL, George, and his wife Tina Curran of Burlington, Roger Curran of Salem, and Donald, and his wife, Joyce Cann of Sumter, SC, four brothers-in-in-law, James Donlon of Danvers, William and his wife, Skippy Donlon of Palm Bay, FL and Richard and his wife, Gail Donlon of Beverly, Hector Lorette of Salem, four sisters-in-law, Patricia Donlon, Joan and her husband, Max Sholomith and Calista Donlon, and Margaret Estabrook all of Beverly and many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Rita Lorette and Nancy Cann.
His funeral services will be held on Thursday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923. Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly.
