D. Jesse Costa, 83, devoted husband of 58 years to Marie-Therese, died suddenly at his home, on October, 19.

He was a resident of Wellesley for 40 years and was very active in volunteer service of all kinds throughout his life, beginning as a long time Town Meeting member in Watertown.

Following WW II as a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star, he graduated from Boston University DGE’51 and B.U. Law School (LAW’54). Jesse had a diversified employment history, which included management positions with Raytheon and work in Europe in the Import/Export business.

Before and after retirement, he volunteered for many projects which supported B.U. He spearheaded the founding of the General Education Alumni Association, was president for nine years, and continued as a prime mover in its activities and growth. He was also a permanent president of his School of Law class and a life member of the LAW alumni board.

His volunteer service also included work for the 104th Infantry Timberwolf Division of WW II. He continued his tirelessly efforts until his passing on Friday. as the Vice President of the District 1 Association for District 1. He was also a regular volunteer cook for years at the Wellesley Summertime Barbecues.

He was the devoted father of Marie-Christine Leon of Chevy Chase, MD, Dr. Daniel Costa Jr. of Naperville, IL and Claudine Eilberg of Needham and the loving brother of Eveline Rebello of Fall River. He is also survived by five grand and three great grandchildren.

Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., (Rt.16) WELLESLEY, Tuesday at 8:00 AM. Funeral mass in St. Paul’s Church, Wellesley, at 9:00 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 PM. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Timberwolf Association, 78 Bonwwod Rd., Needham, MA 02492.
