Obituary

George Picard, 69 of Medway died October 15 in his home following a long illness. He was the husband of Regina “Jean” L. (Hanlon) Picard.
Born in Franklin, August 10, 1938 the son of the late Wilfred and Frances (Kirby) Picard, Mr. Picard was raised and lived in Franklin for many years before moving to Medway 16 years ago.
Mr. Picard was a graduate of the Norfolk County Agricultural School in Walpole.
Mr. Picard had been a deliveryman for Hopedale Oil Company before retiring.
He had previously worked for Tri-County High School and Dean College in Franklin. For many years prior to that, he operated his own poultry farm in Franklin.
Following his retirement from the Oil Company, he was a bus driver for the Holmes Bus Company during the Tri-County Sherborn route.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, George Jr. of Douglas and John of Canton, Ohio, his daughters, Mary Hartley of Woonsocket, Catherine Marszalkowski of Woonsocket, Janice Richardson of Natick, Linda Lee of Hopkinton and his step-children, James Calnan of Rochester, VT, Margaret Calnan of Franklin and Jennifer Baker of Franklin.
He was the step-father of the late Patricia Calnan and the brother of the late Mary Jackson, Anna Brunelli, Ruth Ober and Edward Picard.
He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 20 in St. Joseph's Church, Village Street in Medway at 10:00 a.m.
Private burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Bay Path Humane Society, 5 Rafferty Rd., Hopkinton, MA 01748.
