U. S. Army Special Forces Staff Sergeant Robert “Rob” Ryan Pirelli, 29 of Franklin was killed in action in Iraq on August 15. He was the son of Robert T. and Nancy M. (Sullivan) Pirelli of Franklin.
Born in Weymouth, June 16, 1978 he was a lifelong Franklin resident.
Sgt. Pirelli was a graduate of Franklin High School Class of 1996 where he was a member of the Hockey team.
He was a 2001 graduate of Northeastern University with a degree in Criminal Justice.
He had been a member of the Army for over 3 years.
Sgt. Pirelli loved to play ice and roller hockey and was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Shawn E. Pirelli and sister, Stacey L. Pirelli both of Franklin.
He is also survived by his grandparents, Russell and Evelyn Sullivan of Barefoot Bay, Florida and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 25 in St. Mary’s Church, Church Square in Franklin at 1:00 p.m.
Burial with full military honors will follow in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Thursday and Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin.
