Obituary

Elwin A. “Al” Silloway, 90 of Franklin, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Lois M. (Baldwin) Silloway, who died in 1999.

Born in Boston, April 3, 1917 a son of the late Glen E. and Josephine M. (Siebert) Silloway, he lived in Franklin for more than 56 years.

He was educated in Boston public schools, and lived in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston, before moving to Franklin.

He retired in 1978 from the MBTA: Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, where he worked for over 36 years.

During his retirement years, he shared his love of repairing antique clocks for many of the people in the town of Franklin. He supported and contributed to the historic preservation of the Boston Street Railway Assoc., the Seashore Trolley Museum, the Shoreline Trolley Museum, and the Connecticut Trolley Museum. Unknown when he and his family moved to Franklin in 1950, his passion for researching family history revealed that a relative: Thomas William Silloway, was the architect for the original building at Dean Jr. College. He also contributed tot eh Franklin public Library, The Franklin Senior Citizen Complex, and Dean College.

He was a Life Member of Boston Carmen’s Union Local #589, the Franklin Senior Citizens and The American Assoc. of Retired Persons.

He is survived by a daughter: Jane Silloway Parks and her Husband Marty of Sewell, New Jersey, 2 sons: Richard E. Silloway and his wife Janet of Weston, Florida and Harry Cochran and his wife Barbara of Franklin. 5 grandchildren: Jack Parks and his wife Vickie, Michael Parks and his wife Robin, Janet Schmick and her husband Ken, Wendy Silloway Schlrau and her husband William, Timothy E. Silloway and his wife Gwen. 6 great grandchildren: Michelle, Nicole, Lisa, Melissa, Jessica and Thomas, and 7 great great grandchildren: Dylan, Brittney, Quinton, Chyenne, Stephanie, Ciara, and Lillian.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Saturday, at 12 Noon in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage Street, www.franklinfuneral.com. Interment will follow in Union Street Cemetery.
