Obituary

DUDLEY – Genevieve T. (Urbanowski) Stelmach, 84, died Friday, June 1, at home. Her husband of 62 years, Frank J. Stelmach, died in 2003.

She leaves a son, Frank P. and his wife Maureen P. Stelmach of Douglas; 2 grandchildren, Karyn J. Chapman and her fiancé Phillip S. Sheridan of Douglas and Kevin F. Stelmach of Petersburg, Alaska; 3 great grandchildren, Ashley N. Chapman, Cody and Buddy Stelmach. She was predeceased by 4 brothers and 1 sister and her great grandson, Ashton L. F. Chapman.

She was born in Webster, a daughter of John and Antonia (Piasta) Urbanowski and was a lifelong resident of Webster and Dudley.

Mrs Stelmach worked many years as an engineering assistant at the American Optical Co., in Southbridge, retiring in 1984. She and her husband owned and operated Frank’s Driving Range in Dudley for many years. She was an avid golfer playing in and winning many tournaments. She was a member of the Dudley Country Club and the Cohassee Country Club. She was also a member of the Polish American Veterans Women’s Auxiliary.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, June 5, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., Webster, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main St. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday, June 4, in the funeral home. Donations in her memory may be made to the Saint Andrew Bobola Elevator Fund, PO Box 98, Dudley, MA 01571-0098.
