Henry B. Burbank, 91 Longtime Norton Resident Dateline: Rehoboth, MA Henry B.”Harry” Burbank, 91, of Rehoboth formerly of Norton died on Thursday April 26, 2007. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (Arend) Burbank who died on Sept. 27, 1988. Born in Brookline, MA on June 9, 1915 he was a loving son of the late Harry O. and Mary A. (Burke) Burbank. He grew up in Newton Highlands and was a 1933 graduate of Newton High School. A Captain in the 3rd Air Commando Group of the 5th Air Force he saw service in the Southwest Pacific Theater during WWII. Mr. Burbank was employed by Reed and Barton as a Vice President of the Eureka Manufacturing Co. He worked for Reed and Barton for 40 years prior to retirement. Harry was very active in Norton affairs. He was a former longtime member and a former Chairman on the Norton School Committee. He was a founding member and a former president of the Norton Historical Society. He was also a founding member of the Norton Land Preservation Society. Mr. Burbank was quite involved with the Norton Public Library of which he also served as a Trustee. His passions were genealogy, history, gardening and especially spending time with his loving family. He had lived with his son and family in Rehoboth for the past 13 years and was formerly of Norton for 47 years. He was the devoted father of Charles S. Burbank and his wife Karen of Rehoboth, David O. Burbank and his wife Christine of Pittsfield and the late Betsey W. Burbank who died in 1986. He was the dear brother of the late Mary E. Lannon. He was the cherished grandfather of Elizabeth Burbank-Gilb and her husband Joshua of Jamaica Plain, Margaret M. Burbank of Brooklyn, New York, Caroline L. Burbank of Boston, James S. Burbank of Rehoboth and the late Katherine L. Burbank. Also surviving are his several nieces and nephews including William A. Durbin of Needham, Joan D. Valle of Falmouth and the late Janet D. Sisto, also several grand nieces and nephews. Visiting hours to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Sunday April 29th from 4-7 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Private burial will be held on Monday April 30th at the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton. Memorial services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, Will be held on Monday April 30th at 11:00 A.M. at The Norton Historical Society, 18 West Main St. Norton. Following the services a reception will be held at the Norton Historical Society.
