Obituary

Dr. William H. McKenna - Orthodontist, former Trustee of the American Dental Assoc, longtime Trustee of the Mass Dental Society, & Founder of the Yankee Dental Congress died March 28 after a long illness, he was 81. Dr McKenna was a 1944 Graduate of Governor Dummer Academy in Byfield, where he captained 3 varsity sports. After serving in World War II as a Hospital Corpsman in the US Navy, he attended Georgetown University & graduated from the Georgetown School of Dentistry in 1952. He earned his degree in Orthodontics from Columbia Dental School in 1954. In 1972 he was named the Georgetown Alumnus of the Year & in 1983 received an Honorary Degree from Georgetown in recognition of his contribution to his profession.

Beloved husband of Betty Anne (Cashin) McKenna for 56 years. Devoted father of W. Michael McKenna & his wife Lynn of Weybridge, VT, Kevin J. McKenna & his wife Diane Fitzgerald of Amston, CT., Brian R. McKenna of West Barnstable, Maura M. Masters & her husband John of Carbondale, CO, Brenda A. Denby & her husband Derick of Wellesley, Shaun J. McKenna & his wife Brenda of New Canaan, CT. Brother of Suzanne Jaxtimer of Centerville. Grandfather of Jake, Lee, Owen, Faye, Patrick, Brigid, Catherine, William, Kelsey, Ryan & Megan.

Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St, (Rt 16) WELLESLEY Saturday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in St Paul's Church, Wellesley at 10 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 PM. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
