Obituary

George H. Colangeli of North Andover passed away at home on March 26, 2007. He was 88 years old.

A life-long resident of Malden, George and his wife moved to North Andover five years ago to live with his son. He worked at the Charlestown Navy Yard as a welder for 35 years and Bethlehem Steel in East Boston for 10 years. He was a late member of the ITAM Veterans Club of Malden and the Old Ironside Chapter 1491 of the NARFE of Boston. George also served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

In his spare time, George loved to go bowling. He was an active member in the Senior Citizens Bowling League in Malden. He was also an avid New York Yankees’ Fan.

George is survived by his loving wife Evelyn (Zuretti) of North Andover and his children George Colangeli Jr. of North Andover and Patricia Hughes and her husband Thomas of Topsfield. He was the cherished grandfather of Kelly and Madeline Hughes and the dear brother of John and Fred Colangeli both of Malden and the late Joseph, Emery, Vincent and Janet Colangeli and Theresa DeAvilla. He was also the loving uncle of Ed DeAvilla, Jack Colangeli, Susan Caron and Janet O’Connor.

The Funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Thursday, March 29th at 8:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden at 9:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Wednesday, March 28th from 4-8 p.m. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
