Giovanna (Barraco) Giacalone 91 of Walpole died February 2 in Caritas Norwood Hospital. She was the wife of the late Michele Giacalone who died in 2005.
Born in Marsala Italy, December 18, 1915 the daughter of the late Nicolo and Rosaria Barraco, Mrs. Giacalone came to America from in Italy in 1961 living in West Roxbury for 29 years before moving to Walpole.
She had been a seamstress for the Baron Anderson Company for 8 years.
Mrs. Giacolone loved to cook, knit and crochet.
She is survived by her daughter Francesca Pantaleo of Walpole, her sons Joseph Giacalone of Walpole, Nick Giacalone of West Roxbury and Vito Giacalone of Wrentham
She is also survived by her brother Michele Barraco of Marsala Italy and a sister Rosa Barraco of Marsala.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late Francesca Alestra and Maria Licari.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday February 6 from the Ginley Funeral Home 892 Main St. Walpole at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Catherine’s Church in Norwood at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Boston.
Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m.
