In Loving Memory of Michael Allen Mitchell
November 25, 1960 – November 1, 2026
A Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, Uncle, Brother-in-law, Friend, and Forever Our Hero
Michael Allen Mitchell, 65, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, cherished memories, and a legacy of kindness that will never be forgotten.
Born on November 25, 1960, Michael was a man whose heart was as big as the love he had for his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, an incredibly proud grandfather, and a friend to anyone who needed one. To know Michael was to know someone who would give the shirt off his back, lend a helping hand without hesitation, and always make time to listen when someone needed him.
Michael was a man who found joy in life's greatest adventures and simplest pleasures. He had a deep love for camping, fishing, boating, the peacefulness of the ocean, and the thrill of drag racing. Whether he was watching cars thunder down the drag strip, cheering on his unofficially adopted sons, Ben and Andrew, as they tore through the mud pits, casting a fishing line into the water, or sitting around a campfire surrounded by the people he loved, Michael treasured every moment. For him, it was never just about the racing, the fishing, or the adventures — it was about the memories made, the laughter shared, and the people by his side. Above all, his greatest passion and proudest accomplishment was his family, and nothing brought him more happiness than being surrounded by those he loved.
Michael was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Diana Mitchell, and a proud father to his children, Kimberly and Christopher, and his daughter-in-law, Catherine. He was especially proud of his two grandsons, Garrison, affectionately known as "G-Man," and Graham. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and the love he had for them was immeasurable.
Michael's love extended far beyond his immediate family. He was a father figure to many, offering guidance, encouragement, support, and unconditional love to those who needed it most. He never turned his back on someone in need and always found a way to make others feel like family. His selflessness was not something he practiced occasionally; it was simply the way he lived his life.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Diana Mitchell; his children, Kimberly and Christopher Mitchell (Catherine); his cherished grandsons, Garrison "G-Man" and Graham; his loving mother, Frankie Mitchell; his brother, Steve Mitchell (Scharala); his sisters, Teresa Howse (Terry) and Melanie Mitchell; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Michael was preceded in death by his beloved father, Thomas Edward Mitchell III, along with many cherished extended family members who went before him. Though they are deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with those he loved and has been welcomed into their loving embrace once again.
Even in his final chapter, Michael continued to demonstrate the extraordinary kindness and generosity that defined his life. Through the selfless gift of organ donation, Michael became a hero one final time, offering hope and the possibility of life to others. His final act was a reflection of everything he stood for — loving others, helping those in need, and giving without expecting anything in return.
While our hearts are broken by his passing, we take comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, family, friends, and the lives he touched along the way.
We will miss his laughter, his stories, his advice, his hugs, and the simple comfort of knowing he was always there. We will miss the fishing trips, the camping adventures, the excitement of the racetrack, and the moments that seemed ordinary at the time but now mean everything.
Michael taught us that being a hero doesn't require a cape. Sometimes it simply means being a good husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, a loyal friend, and someone who always puts others before himself.
His race on this earth may have reached the finish line, but the love he gave and the memories he created will continue for generations to come.
A Celebration of Life honoring the life and legacy of Michael Allen Mitchell will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Paulk Vineyard Tasting Room, 201 East 5th Street, Tifton, GA 31794.
