Marcia L. (Leon) Blanchard, 70, of Leicester, passed away at home Monday, October 12th. Her husband of 47 years, Matthew C. Blanchard, died in 2024. She is survived by her two sons, Matthew C. Blanchard, Jr. of Greenfield and Marc J. Blanchard of Portland, OR; her daughter, Laura M. Blanchard and her partner, Todd Liebman of Leicester; her sister, Sandra D. Leon of Worcester; her three grandchildren, Olivia, Fiona and Ava Liebman; and her many beloved brothers- and sisters-in-law and their families.
Born in Worcester, Marcia was the daughter of Leo T. and Gloria B. (Zetterman) Leon. She worked as a registered nurse before dedicating herself to raising her family. Family and friends were at the center of Marcia’s life, she had a special gift for bringing people together. Her annual family gatherings were a testament to her love of family and her knack for keeping everyone connected. Marcia deeply loved her family. She treasured her children and grandchildren, who meant the world to her. She loved to travel and cherished the foreign adventures she took with family, especially with her son Marc. Marcia was an avid reader who built a large collection of books, many from her years working in bookstores. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, weaving and peaceful time to herself with a book.
Her funeral is Thursday, October 22nd, from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with her funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Leicester. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 21st, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
