Judith J. "Judy" Gendreau, 79, of Westport peacefully passed away with her family by her side on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at Somerset Ridge Center. She was the daughter of the late Normand E. and Leanna G. (Freelove) Gendreau.
Ms. Gendreau was born in Fall River and had been a lifelong resident of Westport. She worked for many years as a hairdresser and later became a Licensed Practical Nurse working at St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford. She was known as the caretaker of all the children in her family and the kids loved to be with her. In her earlier years, she enjoyed taking trips to Florida and attending antique car shows. Her hobbies included scrapbooking, yard saling and crafting. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her son: Shane Gendreau and his wife Lisa of Tiverton; her brother: Normand "Brad" Gendreau of Tiverton; her sister: Sandra L. Amarello of Westport; 4 grandchildren: Nicole McCarthy and her husband Josh, Caitlin Guimond and her husband Joseph, Shayn Gendreau and Logan Brandao; 3 great grandchildren: Benson and Abigail McCarthy and Jackman Guimond; her longtime companion for over 30 years: Joe Miranda; along with nieces and nephews.
Memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, October 26, 2026 at Potter Funeral Home at 12:00 P.M.
Memorial visitation will be Monday the 26th from 10 A.M. - 12 P.M. prior to the memorial service.
Interment to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Westport.
