Stephen J. Annucci, 102, of Worcester, died peacefully at the Jewish Community Healthcare Center on October 14, 2026. His beloved wife of nearly 76 years, Elizabeth, passed away peacefully in August of 2026. Steve is survived by their four children, Nancy Annucci (Fulton) of Fairfax, VT, Karen Annucci of Worcester, Marilyn Annucci of Madison, WI, and Lawrence Annucci of Madison, WI; his brother Anthony and wife Eleanor, and his sister Loretta Panettiere; and many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces/grandnephews. He was predeceased by five siblings. Born in Brooklyn, NY, in 1924, the son of Dominick and Concetta (Santacroce), Steve was a WWII veteran, serving as a radio operator on USAT (army transport ships) in the Asiatic Pacific. He worked as an aircraft/communicator with the old Civil Aeronautics Administration and the Federal Aviation Administration, and he retired after 33 years of service. In the 1980s, Steve attended Worcester State College and earned a BA in History. At the age of 100, he received a key to the City of Worcester from the mayor and a certificate in recognition of his military service during WWII from the director of Veterans Services. Throughout his life, Steve enjoyed hiking in NH and MA, and he loved the beaches. He was particularly happy when doing yard work, helping neighbors, walking, reading, traveling, and doing crossword puzzles. He loved words and also was a terrific and funny writer. He always had a sharp mind and a love for life, and he was remarkably disciplined and resilient. In his late nineties, Steve became a devoted caregiver to his wife. The family would like to thank the physicians, nurses, CNAs and staff at the Lutheran Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center and, in the last five months, the Jewish Healthcare Center and the Jewish Healthcare Hospice for their kindness, humor and attentive care. A memorial mass for Steve and Elizabeth will be held on Saturday, October 17, at 10:00 a.m., at Christ the King Church, 1050 Pleasant Street; all other services are private. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME assisted the family with arrangements.
