WEST BALDWIN- Dawn R Reinhard, age 90, of West Baldwin, Maine, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026, surrounded by family after a brief illness. She was born the only child of Fred and Averill (Harvey) Rankin on September 28, 1936, in East Hiram, Maine.
She attended local schools and graduated from Potter Academy, where she met the love of her life, Marvin (Buddy) Reinhard, Sr. They were married on October 20, 1956. When they were first married, they lived in East Hiram, Maine. They moved to Port Chicago, CA in the early sixties and returned to Maine in 1968.
For the first 18 years of her married life, she was a homemaker raising her family. In subsequent years she worked several other jobs including driving bus and serving on the school board for SAD 55 and working at the healthcare clinic in Steep Falls.
Dawn and Marvin lived in the home he built, on Rt 113 in West Baldwin, for 56 years. She was known for her baking, jam, knitting and sewing abilities. Her children often swapped her homemade goodies with friends and teachers. She loved her family and always looked forward to family gatherings. However, it is known family lore that she wasn’t skilled with barbequing chicken. Legend has it that there were several times that she got caught up in family fun and forgot the chicken on the grill and once it was checked on, there were just bones left. So, hamburgers and hot dogs to the rescue.
She was a friend to many and even a second mom to some. She has left us with big shoes to fill and will be dearly missed.
She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin Sr, Sisters-in law Sylvia Reinhard, Beverly Cox and her husband Richard and Marilyn Wormwood and her husband Alston.
She is survived by her children, Naomi Reinhard, Marvin Reinhard Jr, Ardis Abbott and her husband Lyndon, Fred (Ricky) Reinhard and his wife Melissa and Adam Reinhard and his wife Maria. Grandchildren, Alisha, Seth, Codi, Morgan, Zachary, Mitchell, Matthew, Mackenzie, Maccoy, Macaleb, Stella and Greta. Great Grandchildren, Myles, Ava, Elijah, Audrey, Seth Jr, Rhys, Ryan and Kian. Her brothers-in-law Donald Reinhard and his wife Judy and Brian Reinhard and his wife Leanne, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
There will be no visiting hours and a graveside service with family will be at a later date.
