James Chapelle “Mickey” Hilton (73) of Brockton passed away on September 26, 2026, was the beloved husband of the late Callie Hilton and son of the late Moses Hilton, Sr. and Ellen Hilton.
James was born and raised in Lane, South Carolina, and resided in Brockton, Massachusetts, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for many years. He returned to Brockton for the last six years of his life, where he enjoyed being with his family. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, cooking, basketball, and watching the New England Patriots.
James is survived by his sons, James Hilton, Jr. and his fiancée, (Imee), and Chapelle Brooks and his wife (Sharonda); his daughter, Renee Hilton and her husband, Jose; his brothers, Amos Hilton (Corine), Moses Hilton, Jr. (Frances), and Clifford Hilton; his grandchildren, Brendan, Nadiya, Darnell, Jose Jr., Naylani, Cameron Monteiro, Amari Francis, Anjuli Brooks, Alaya Hilton, and Lillie Hilton; and his great-grandchildren, Brendan Jr., Cali Monteiro, Nasiyah, Camari, and Calvonte Tyson Jr.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Rainia Hilton; his brothers, Isaac, George, and Ervin Hilton; his sisters, Patricia Hilton Gallishaw, Eva Mae Hilton Darby, Buela Mae Hilton, and Leedy Hilton; and his great-grandchild, Callie Tyson.
Viewing will be held in the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court Street, Brockton, on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 6–9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery, 88 N. Pearl Street, Brockton.
