METCALF Sheila M. (Connolly) of the Springhouse, and longtime resident of Roslindale, formerly of Marshfield, Norwell, and San Jose, CA., passed away on September 28, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth M. Metcalf. Devoted mother of Donna Twohig of West Roxbury, Kenneth Metcalf Jr. and his wife Laurie of NJ., Katherine Hansen and her husband Scot of AZ., Margaret Metcalf of CA., and John Metcalf of Roslindale. Loving grandmother of Aislinn Galofaro, Meaghan Twohig, William Metcalf, Kenneth Metcalf III., Kelly Hansen, John J. Metcalf, and Brieanna Metcalf. Great grandmother of Jhohana Metcalf, Kenneth Metcalf IV, and Julia Galofaro. Also survived by her cousins Kathleen Mark, and Kathleen Murphy, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Sheila was a proud Bostonian, and especially loved Roslindale. She was a loyal Red Sox fan and was lucky to see them win 4 World Series; she was front row at every Duck Boat parade. Sheila also loved to see the world - she traveled to Ireland multiple times, enjoyed many cross-country trips across the United States, and visited Hawaii and Alaska, always accompanied by her favorite travel companions, her family.
Sheila was kind and generous to everyone she met, and always made sure that there was a place at her table for anyone who couldn’t be with their families around the holidays. She was the life and soul of any party; she loved to dance and sing, and knew all the words to every Irish folk song. Most of all, she loved her family deeply. Nothing was better to her than gathering with her large extended family, and she cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Springhouse, particularly the staff in Allen House, who provided her with compassionate care over the last four years.
Visiting hours will be held at the P.E. Murray - F.J. Higgins, George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 2000 Centre St. West Roxbury on Sunday, October 4th from 5-7pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Monday, October 5th at 9am, followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Roslindale at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
