SOUTH HADLEY – Lorraine A. (Labrie) Grant, 90, of South Hadley, was Called Safely Home on Monday, September 28, 2026. She passed into Eternal Life at Day Brook Village in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving son Michael and her close friend, Sister Marlene. She was born in Holyoke on January 21, 1936, a beloved daughter of the late George E. Labrie and Dora J. (Dubuc) Labrie Jubinville. She lived in South Hadley, graduated from South Hadley High School, and was a lifelong resident. She was an Administrative Assistant at Holyoke Catholic High School; however, her greatest joy was taking care of her family. She was an active communicant at Saint Patrick Church in South Hadley where she was a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and an Altar Server Instructor. She also served her parish as a member of the Saint Patrick Ladies Guild, the Hospitality Ministry, and the Funeral and Bereavement Ministry. She was a member of Cursillo in the Diocese of Springfield, served as the Secretary for the Friends of Western Mass Hospital in Westfield where her son was a 20 years patient, and volunteered frequently at Holyoke Catholic High School. Her greatest pleasure in life was spending time with her family and many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate Theodore H. “Ted” Grant who was Called Home on December 21, 2022. They were married at Saint Patrick Church in South Hadley on October 12, 1957 and were blessed with over 65 years of happiness together. She leaves her loving and devoted son Michael T. Grant and his fiancée, Lynne Conroy, of East Hartford, CT; her three cherished granddaughters, Sara Grant and her partner, Matt, Stephanie Gardiner and her husband, Tim, and Megan Graefe and her husband, Julius; her three cherished great grandchildren, Gwenevere and Grant Gardiner, and Leonie Graefe; her longtime friend of over 48 years, Sister Marlene Mucha, SSJ of Chicopee; and her dear nieces, cousins, friends, and extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her beloved son, Gary George Grant who was Called Home on November 4, 1999; and her dear sister, Irene Bledsoe and her husband, Deacon John Bledsoe. Her Funeral will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Patrick Church, 30 Main Street, South Hadley Falls, MA 01075. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
