Charles E. King, age 88, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away in the presence of his adoring family on Friday, September 25, 2026 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Judith E. (Briggs) King, to whom he was wed for sixty-five years.
Born in Boston, MA on July 15, 1938, he was a loving son of the late Alice (King) Jordan and was raised by the late Fred and Christine Barrows, who he loved dearly.
Charlie grew up in Mansfield and was a 1956 graduate of Mansfield High School, where he played sports and made treasured friendships that lasted a lifetime. During the Vietnam Era, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and prior to retiring, was employed for several years as a lab chemist at the former Compo Industries in Mansfield.
Charlie’s family was the priority of his life and they always came first. He was passionate about trains and shared a love for gardening with his wife Judy. Charlie also enjoyed following local, state and national sports teams, played men’s league softball in Mansfield and Foxborough for thirty years and had a special place in his heart for cats, including “Lily”, who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted daughters, Diana J. King and Donna J. King, both of East Walpole. He was the cherished grandfather of Brandy Marshall and Taylor Marshall, both of East Walpole. He was the dear brother of the late Russell Barrows, Ruth Macomber and Robert Barrows. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, September 30th from 9:00-11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday morning at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
