Thomas S. Gilbert, age 80, passed away on September 19 2026 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born on January 27, 1946 in Chicopee, son of the late Harold J. Gilbert and Helen (Jerome) Gilbert. Thomas served in the US Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. He later worked as a computer supervisor and tech consultant for many years at Holyoke Hospital and even had his own computer company for many years before he retired. He is predeceased by his wife Christine T. (Zukowski) Gilbert who passed away in 2024 and his brother Harold Jeffrey Gilbert. He is survived by his son Ian T. Gilbert and his wife Lauren of Jacksonville, FL; one daughter, Lisa Chapline of Wilbraham and four beloved grandchildren, Catherine, Josephine, Christopher and Joshua. Thomas loved fishing, hiking and being outdoors. He loved his dogs, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. A Celebration of life will take place on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee, followed by an in-house prayer service at 10:00AM.
