Linda M. Pernini, 75, of Woonsocket died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday morning September 20, 2026 at Hope Health Hospice Care Center in Providence.
Born in Woonsocket she was a daughter of the late George and Lena (DiMichele) Brien. She was a lifelong resident of Woonsocket.
Linda worked as a waitress at the Embassy Club and later was employed as a bank manager for Citizens Bank for many years before retiring.
Linda will be remembered for her friendly and outgoing personality. She had her own special sense of humor and sarcastic wit. No matter what the situations Linda could come up with just the right words at just the right moment. The best stand-ups in show business couldn’t hold a candle to her, and that included everyone on the spectrum from Rodney Dangerfield to George Carlin. Let’s just say that she could go from PG to rated R when she had to, and she did.
Linda lived life on her own terms. She absolutely loved the holidays and spending time with her family. Linda’s family was her whole world to her.
Linda’s family wishes to express their gratitude to all of the caregivers at The Friendly Home for the care and support she received over the past several years and extra special thanks to Hope Hospice Center in Providence for their empathy and compassionate care for her during her last few days.
Linda is survived by her two sons Thomas Galipeau of Woonsocket and Timothy Pernini and his wife Barbara of Chelmsford, MA, and two daughters Tina Rivard of Woonsocket and her late husband Michael “Mike” Rivard (who passed away in December of 2020) and Tracy Tharpe and her husband Leigh of Blackstone. She was the loving sister of Joanne Bootland of Woonsocket and is also survived by her precious 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and their families.
Everyone is welcome to gather to honor and remember Linda at visiting hours at Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket on Saturday October 3rd from Noon to 3:00pm. A prayer service will be held at 3:00 pm. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial donations may be made to the Woonsocket Animal Control, 242 Clinton St. Woonsocket, RI 02895.
