Bettina L. “Bette” (Freeman) Richmond, age 90, a lifelong resident of Norton, passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late James M. Richmond, Jr., who died on May 31, 2002.
Born in Norton, MA on April 26, 1936, she was a loving daughter of the late Arnold S. and Bernice (Wood) Freeman.
Bette grew up in her hometown of Norton and was a 1953 graduate of Attleboro High School. She was a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family and had formerly been employed as the Assistant Librarian and Head of Circulation at the Norton Library, a job she treasured for thirty-one years before retiring in 2000.
A member of the Unitarian Church in Norton, where she also served on the parish committee, Bette shared a passion, along with her late husband, for Model T’s. She and Jim belonged to four clubs, enjoyed antique tours and in 1993, took a five-day trip, by way of Model T, to Detroit.
Bette especially loved her family and very-much enjoyed traveling, reading, knitting and being an avid sports fan, of which included, cheering on the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots and thrill of NASCAR.
She is survived by her devoted children, Arnold David Richmond of Bandera, Texas, Cynthia Lee Richmond-Falzone and her husband Al of Norton and the late William James Richmond. She was the dear sister of the late David A. Freeman and is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as her loving several generations of nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a graveside funeral service at the Norton Common Cemetery in Norton on a day and time to be announced shortly.
