Elizabeth “Ann” Chaney, 74, of Fruitland Park, Florida passed away Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the University of Florida Health System Leesburg in Leesburg, Florida. A graveside funeral service will be held for Ann at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2026, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. Joe Barnes will officiate.
Born April 10, 1952, in Auburndale, Florida, Ann was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Merlin Gatlin and Johnny and Josephine Chaney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Jackie Chaney; and a brother, Johnny Swails. She retired from PNC Bank, and she was a member of the Women of the Moose.
She loved spending time with her friends, and she enjoyed gardening and cooking. She cherished her pets, Charlie – her cat and her dogs, Sophie, Oliver and Benson. She was a true fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Left behind to cherish Ann’s memory is her fiancé, Steve Pennington; her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Tommy Griffin of Tifton; her brother, John Allen Chaney of Red Wing, Minnesota; her nieces, Leila Hodges, Dana Flanders, Penny Himes and Kimberly Fields; her nephews, Linc Griffin and Jon Chaney; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
