Yvonne Boissel traveled far and wide. From the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, to the Eiffel Tower in Paris to the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt she saw most of the world. But for all of her globetrotting adventures, Yvonne knew one thing for certain. She knew where her home was and just right there in her home lay her heart. With her steadfast guide of faith and family as her beacons Yvonne made the trip of a lifetime and came back home again. Home to faith and family.
Yvonne C. Boissel, 94, of Woonsocket died peacefully Saturday evening September 19, 2026 at Woonsocket Health Center. She was the loving wife of the late Walter A. Boissel. Yvonne and Walter were married on September 29, 1956 at Holy Family Church and shared nearly 63 years together until his passing on September 20, 2019.
Born and raised in Woonsocket she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Irene (Thibeault) Forcier. She was a lifelong resident of the city. Yvonne was a graduate of St. Clare Girls High School with the class of 1949. Yvonne graduated with her diploma in nursing from Notre Dame de Lourdes School of Nursing in Manchester, New Hampshire. In the early 1950s Yvonne worked as registered nurse in Michigan before returning to Woonsocket. She was employed as a school nurse at Woonsocket High School, the Visiting Nurse Service and later at the offices of Dr. Patrick Levesque.
Yvonne’s faith was the foundation of her life. During her lifetime she was a communicant of Holy Family, St. Charles and later St. Joseph’s parishes.
During their retirement years Yvonne and Walter were fortunate to travel throughout the United States and all over the world including Europe, the Holy Land and Middle East and many other memorable destinations.
Yvonne will be remembered for her faithfulness and devotion to her family. While not necessarily an extrovert, Yvonne nonetheless did not hesitate to share her thoughts or feeling on any given matter. A wallflower she was most certainly not.
Yvonne is survived by her children Marc Boissel and his wife Donna of Attleboro, Claire Piette and her husband Richard of Woonsocket, Andre Boissel and his wife Cheryl of Harrisville and Louise Boissel of Pawtucket. She was the proud memere of her 5 grandchildren Keith, Matthew, Caitlin, Br. Basil, OSB (Jonathan) and Charlie and her 5 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Louis Forcier and Constance Forcier of Woonsocket, Lucille Parenteau of Bellingham and the late Leo and Albert Forcier, Alice Kelly and Beatrice Ferrio. Yvonne is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins and their families.
Funeral Services will be private. Yvonne will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband Walter at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham.
