Ann Nancy (Richards) McLeod, 72, of Worcester, passed away peacefully surrounded by family following a brief illness. She leaves her husband Ernest P. McLeod. She is also survived by her daughter Jennifer A. Miller and her fiancé Paul D. Martell of Worcester; her daughter in law Jill L. (St. Thomas) McLeod of Charlton; and her grandchildren Michelle, Rachel, Brody, and Aidan Miller, Hailey, Abby, and Lacie Martell of Worcester, and Jaycee and Colby McLeod of Charlton; Ann also leaves her brothers-in-law Merdic J. McLeod Sr. and is wife Nancy of West Chester, PA and Robert J. McLeod and his wife Kerry of Australia; her sister-in-law Karen Richards of Auburn; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.
In Heaven, Ann has joined her three children, Michele, Mark, and Patrick; her sister Mary L. Richards; and her brother Michael W. Richards.
Ann was born in Worcester, the daughter of Harold L. and Pearl G. (Thompson) Richards. She grew up living next door to her in-laws Merdic J. and June M (Aubin) McLeod. This provided the opportunity to spend much time together. Their “tea times” were very special.
Ann took great pride in her many years with the United States Postal Service. After 42 years of service, she retired as a manager from the Shrewsbury Distribution Center in 2021. Her time at the P.O. was about much more than a career. It was where she formed some of her most cherished and lifelong friendships. The relationships she made from her very first days at the Post Office remained by her side throughout the years and continued to be an important part of her life, long after she retired. During her years at the P.O., Ann enjoyed being involved in bowling, billiards & softball leagues, as well as being someone her coworkers could always count on.
Some of her happiest moments were spent at home, hosting cookouts, gathering her family together for holidays, and making memories with the people she loved. Ann was a loyal Patriots and Red Sox fan always rooting for the home team. She loved spending time in her garden, known for growing cucumbers, tomatoes, and sunflowers. In many ways, Ann was the family historian, capturing memories through photographs and turning them into videos so that even the everyday moments were never forgotten. She was thoughtful and caring in everything she did, especially when it came to giving gifts and finding special ways to show the people she loved how much they meant to her.
Above all else, Ann's greatest pride and joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity to talk about their accomplishments and was endlessly proud of each of them. One of her favorite places to spend time with her family was vacationing in Old Orchard Beach. Over the years, Ann also became an animal lover and true dog mom to Molly, Mandy, and Millie.
Ann's friendships were just as meaningful to her as her family. Among her dearest friends was Virginia Clancy, whom she originally met through the Post Office. Their friendship grew into a lifelong bond, filled with birthday trips, laughter, and countless memories.
Ann will be eternalized through the memories of her generosity, caring nature, and endless love.
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation for the overwhelming love and support by so many people during this very difficult time.
