Obituary

ALFRED- Larry Keith “Hank” Sanborn, 66, of Alfred, Maine, passed away peacefully at 1:58 AM on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center in Biddeford. Throughout his journey with cancer, Larry displayed incredible strength, grace, and unwavering hope until the very end.

Born in Sanford, Maine, on August 20, 1960, Larry was the son of the late Roger H. and Anita A. Sanborn. He attended Parsonsfield Elementary and attended Sacopee Valley High School. Larry was a hardworking and dedicated man. Larry spent 30 years as a foreman for George R. Roberts Co. and went on to work for 13 years as a flagger with Libby Scott Paving before retiring in 2026 due to declining health.

Larry “Hank” was a very loving, caring and simple man who enjoyed the outdoors and living life to the fullest. Whether he was riding ATVs, snowmobiles, or his motorcycle, out hunting and fishing, or simply sitting by a roaring campfire listening to music, he was in his element. Larry spent many hours on his golf cart riding around and visiting friends. He was also a passionate racing fan who loved watching NASCAR and attending local races. Larry was a familiar face in the community and a member of both the Wolves Social Club of Sanford and the Eagles Club of Waterboro.

He is survived by his lifelong partner, Sylvie “Sophie” Quirion of Alfred; his daughter, Nicole Stone (Sanborn) and her husband Gary of Waterboro; and his two cherished grandsons, Tyler Stone and Brandon Stone, both of Waterboro.

He also leaves behind his brothers and sisters: Daniel Sanborn and his wife Jenny of Parsonsfield; Joanne Sprague and her husband Bob of Sanford; Richard Sanborn and his wife Kathy of Parsonsfield; Donna McDonald and her husband Robert of Effingham; Dana Sanborn and Lori Thyng of Limerick; Michael Sanborn and Lori Emmons of Newfield; and Jennifer Sanborn of Effingham; along with many beloved nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Larry was predeceased by his parents, Roger H. and Anita Sanborn, his sister Patti Sanborn, and his brother Roger W. Sanborn.

A celebration of life will be scheduled and announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Larry's memory to the MaineHealth Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.
