Charalampos Markopoulos, 66, of Charlton, died Friday, September 11th in Harrington Hospital. He is survived by his two sons, Christos and Vasilios Markopoulos both of Charlton, two daughters, Maria Markopoulos of Charlton and Magdalini Markopoulos of Monson; his parents, Christos and Maria (Papatheodorou) Markopoulos of Foloi, Greece; two brothers, Father Andrew Markopoulos and his wife, Presbytera Angeliki Markopoulos of Suffolk, VA and Nicholas Markopoulos and his wife, Olga of East Brookfield; his two sisters, Dimitra Markopoulos and her husband, Nathaniel Robinson of Beaufort, SC and Angeliki Markopoulos and her husband, Vaggelis Kafandaris of Athens, Greece and many cousins and nieces and nephews.
He was born in Foloi, Greece; and had served in the Greek, Army. Charalampos had been employed for many years at the Family House of Pizza in Charlton and will be remembered as an accomplished and skilled chef who delighted in providing his special offerings for all to enjoy. He attended St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, and was an avid fisherman, enjoyed soccer and tending to his garden. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him as well as being remembered as the best "Baba"!
The family extends their heartfelt thanks, to the doctors, nurses and aides of the Cardiac Care and Pulmonary Units of UMASS for their dedication, commitment and compassion extended to him during his hospitalizations, we are forever indebted to you.
His funeral will be held on Friday, September 18th, from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 11 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are form 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
