In Loving Memory of Aubree

Aubree Marshall, age 11, was a bright, beautiful light whose life was filled with creativity, curiosity, and an extraordinary capacity to love.

Aubree loved everything and everyone. She cared deeply for the people around her and had a way of making each person feel as though they were the most special person in the world. She was happy, affectionate, and almost always smiling. She adored her family, especially her siblings, and loved nothing more than being included in whatever the people she loved were doing. She was a helper, a little shadow, and a constant presence at the side of those she loved most.

Aubree gave from her heart. Birthdays meant homemade cards and handmade gifts, carefully created just for the person she was celebrating. She loved going to the store for supplies and then turning ordinary things into something entirely her own. Paper, cardboard, and whatever else she could find became the beginning of her next idea. She once built her own vending machine from scratch, the kind of imaginative project that perfectly captured who Aubree was. She dreamed of becoming an inventor someday.

Aubree loved music, movies, and the things that simply made her happy. Some of her favorite movies were Are We There Yet?, Home, and Good Burger. She liked listening to Ella Langley, and songs she loved included Rihanna's “Dancing in the Dark” from Home and “Run Rabbit” by Mollie Elizabeth. Music was also something Aubree experienced for herself. She participated in Guitars Over Guns, where she played the drums.

She enjoyed basketball, loved the color blue, and delighted in food and trying new things. But more than anything, Aubree loved creating. She loved making something out of nothing, helping her family, being together, and finding little ways to bring joy to the people around her.
Aubree had a presence that was impossible to miss. She was the spotlight without ever needing to ask for it. Her joy drew people toward her. Her thoughtfulness made people feel seen. The little things she did, the cards she made, the gifts she created, the way she stayed close, and the way she made the people she loved feel important were simply who she was.
Aubree was the beloved daughter of Autumn Gottung and Llewellyn Marshall and the cherished sister of her big brother, Gavin Marshall; her older sister, Lacie Marshall; and Theory Gottung. She adored her siblings and loved being part of their lives.

She was deeply loved by her grandparents, Robert and JoAnn Gottung and Renee Marshall; her great-grandmother, Janet Ballschmieder; her aunts, Ashley Pribnow, April Zelenka and Roshandra Marshall; her uncles, Cole Zelenka and Odie Marshall; and her cousins, Alexis Pribnow, Addison Pribnow, Weston Zelenka, Shundraya Williams and Avaya Marshall.

Eleven years could never have been enough. Yet in those eleven years, Aubree filled the lives around her with a remarkable amount of love. She made things. She made people laugh. She helped. She stayed close. She made people feel special. She loved wholeheartedly.
The things Aubree created with her hands will be treasured, but the greatest thing she created was the feeling she left with the people who knew her: the feeling of being loved, included, important, and special.

That is Aubree's light, and it will remain with her family always.
