Linda J. (Hayes) Karter, age 79, of Norton, formerly of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Roger F. Karter, Sr, to whom she was wed for sixteen years at the time of his death on December 20, 1992 and the was the longtime companion of the late George L. “Buddy” Beal, Sr., who died on April 21, 2022.

Born in Boston, MA on November 1, 1946, she was a loving daughter of the late Frederick and Edna (O’Brien) Hayes.

Linda grew up in the Roslindale neighborhood of Boston and was a 1963 graduate of Roslindale High School. Prior to retiring, she had worked as an Insurance Agent at the former the Currivan Insurance Agency and at the Barrows Insurance Agency in downtown Mansfield.

Linda’s family was her greatest joy and happiness and being a grandmother was the love of her life. She was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield and enjoyed trips to Disney World, Aruba, taking cruises and being an avid reader.

She is survived by her devoted daughters, Laura J. Presentato and her husband Peter of Mansfield and Christine A. Karter of Uxbridge. She was the cherished grandmother of Kathryn Presentato of Dennis and Meghan Presentato of Mansfield. She was the dear sister of Rev. Frederick Hayes and his wife Rev. Patricia Hayes of Waldoboro Maine. She was the much-loved aunt of Gene Ranney of Florida and was the close friend of Maureen Jagelski of Mansfield.

Her Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield on a day and time to be announced. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.

Visiting hours are omitted and those wishing may remember Linda with a donation in her memory made to the Mansfield Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 25, Mansfield, MA 02048.
