Obituary

“Everything in its place”….. Those are the words Michelle Joyal lived by.

Michelle R. Joyal, 59, of Providence, formerly of Woonsocket, died peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Thursday September 3, 2026 at home following a courageous battle with cancer that she fought with trademark mixture of determination, grace and dignity. Born in Woonsocket she was the daughter of Jocelyn L. (Beaulieu) Joyal of Woonsocket and the late Rene J. Joyal who passed away in 2024. She was raised in Woonsocket and was a graduate of Woonsocket High School with the class of 1985 then went on to graduate from Katherine Gibbs as an executive assistant. She then started working at the Gilbane Corporation, then moved on to the Olympus Group, where she worked her way up to vice president for man yeas, after finally landing an executive management position with the Procaccianti Companies for the last 20+ years.
She lived in Providence since 1997.
Michelle had a special soft spot in her heart for animals and was a proud “fur mom” to her many cats, especially Stanley and Murray. She was a supporter of the Providence Animal Rescue League.
Michele loved to read and spend lots of time getting lost in a good book, particularly works of fiction that bolstered her imagination.
As noted in our opening line of this obituary Michelle had an innate organizational talent. You name it, facts or figures, all and all had it place in her home and she saw just to it.
Michelle will be remembered for her kind and cheerful manner and her own special sense of caring for others.
In addition to her mother Michelle is survived by her brother Marc Joyal of Woonsocket. She was the loving companion of Scott Champlin with whom she shared the past 14 years together. Michelle is also survived by her extended family of relatives and friends.
In accordance with her wishes all services for Michelle are private.
In lieu of flowers, and in honor of her care for animals, memorial donations may be made to Providence Animal Rescue League 34 Elbow St. Providence, RI 02903 or www.parl.org.
Arrangements are in care of the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket.
