Linda Gibbs Drawdy, 78, of Ty Ty passed away Saturday, September 5, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at First Baptist Church Ty Ty with the Rev. John Smith officiating. The Rev. Joel Griffin will give a eulogy. Mrs. Drawdy will be laid to rest at First Baptist Church Ty Ty Cemetery with the Rev. Steven Drawdy officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Drawdy’s nephews, Dave Gibbs, J. D. Gibbs, Dewayne Drawdy, Andy Drawdy, Austin Drawdy and Daniel Drawdy will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Drawdy was born June 29, 1948, in Ty Ty, and she was raised in Ty Ty. She was the daughter of the late J. D. Gibbs, Sr. and Annie B. Lassiter Gibbs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Billy Joe Hale, Sr.; one sister, Patricia Naron; and one brother, J. D. (Junior) Gibbs, Jr. She graduated from Albany State University with a bachelor’s degree in special education. She retired from the Tift County Board of Education after 30 years as a para-professional and spent many years as a school bus driver. She was a member of the Ty Ty City Council and Keep Tift Beautiful. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church Ty Ty, where she was a member of the Kitchen Crew, the Welcoming Committee, Soul Sisters, and taught Sunday School.
God and family were her top priority, and she loved to teach her children and grandchildren about gardening and canning fresh vegetables. She loved camping and fishing with her husband and other family members.
Mrs. Drawdy is survived by her husband, Jackson Drawdy, Sr. of Ty Ty, with whom she spent 59 years; one son and daughter-in-law, Jackson Jr. and Tina Drawdy; a daughter-in-law, Lora Hale; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris Etheridge and Judy and Donnie Drawdy, all of Ty Ty.
