William Curtis Overton Sr. (76) of Taunton, formerly of Holbrook, passed away on August 30th at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. He was the loving husband of Susan Overton.
William was born in Holbrook, the son of the late Curtis Overton and Mildred (Simono) Overton. He worked for many years as a limousine driver, but motorcycles were one of the true passions of his life. A dedicated biker and motorcycle activist, William was well known throughout the local motorcycle community.
During the 1980s and 1990s, William hosted his own television show, “Big Bill’s Motorcycle World,” which celebrated motorcycles, the biker community, and the lifestyle he loved so much. He was joined in this endeavor by several cherished friends and crew members who predeceased him, including his co-host John “JT” Troxell, William “Just Plain Bill” Hammond, and crew members Robert “Benny” Benson and Doug Higgins Smith.
William’s dedication to motorcycling extended well beyond television. As a motorcycle activist, he successfully advocated for motorcycles to once again be permitted in D.W. Field Park. He also enjoyed giving back to his community, including helping with Toys for Tots and the Chili Chowder Fest. William was also a former member of the “Never Mores” Motorcycle Club.
Above all, William treasured his family and the many friendships he made throughout his life.
In addition to his loving wife, Susan, he is survived by his sons, William Overton Jr. and his wife Kristin, and Steven Overton and his wife Tara; his daughter, Autumn Overton; five grandchildren, Hannah and her husband Dave, Haleigh, Timmy, Shawn, and Matthew; as well as the Johnson family and many extended family members and friends.
Funeral Services will be held in the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court Street, Brockton, on Saturday, September 12th at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow a Motorcycle “Last Ride” to Union Cemetery, 40 Union Street, Holbrook.
William will be remembered for his love of motorcycles, his commitment to the biker community, his willingness to stand up for the causes he believed in, and the lasting friendships he made along the road. “On the Road and in the Wind”.
