Bishop Michael Wayne King, 73, of Tifton passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A funeral service will be held for Mr. King on Friday, September 4, 2026, in the Chapel of Bowen- Donaldson at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Clayton Dowd and Heather Johnson officiating. Mr. King will be laid to rest at Union Grove Church of God Cemetery following the service. A visitation will be held in the Chapel from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Mr. King was born on September 23, 1952, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late George Shae King and Madge Elizabeth Harris Broward. Mr. King was an ordained bishop in the Church of God, he dedicated his life to ministering, spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Additionally, he served as a project engineer for several corporations.
In addition to his parents, Mr. King was preceded in death by one brother; William S. King.
Mr. King is survived by his wife, Martha Wood King of Tifton, one son; Michael S. King of Germantown, Maryland, one granddaughter; Olivia Lauren King of New York City, one niece; Darla Baker, one sister-in-law; Patty King both of Mims, Florida, and several close family members whom he loved dearly.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Candace Menard and Dr. David Johnson who went above and beyond their call of duty in caring for Mr. King.
