HOLLIS- William "Bill" Ramsdell, age 89, passed away August 26, 2026 at Southridge Living Center in Biddeford, Maine. He was born in Biddeford on June 6, 1937 a son of the late Emily (Grant) and Alden Ramsdell of Hollis, Bill attended Hollis Schools where he enjoyed playing baseball. After graduating Hollis High School, Bill was scouted by the Boston Red Sox but never played professional ball.
Bill married his sweetheart Roberta (Berty) Harris in 1956 and together they raised three children, Richard "Rick", Deborah, and Stephen. Bill was employed at GTE/Sylvania in Standish as a machine mechanic. When Bill wasn't working, you could find him playing horseshoes or hunting, depending on the season.
Bill is predeceased by his parents, Alden and Emily, son Rick, daughter Debbie, and brother Skip. Bill is survived by his wife Berty, his son Steve and favorite daughter-in-law Sherry, all of Hollis. Also, granddaughter Nichole and husband Aaron of Porter, granddaughter Sabrina Ramsdell of Limington, granddaughter Tabith Blake and partner Chad of Effingham, NH and grandson Matthew Ramsdell and wife Brittany. He also had seven great-grandchildren; Conner, Zackery, Hunter, Angel, Logan, Jaxston, and Ainsley.
Visitation will be held on Friday Sept. 4th from 1 - 2 PM, followed by a 2 PM service at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. Burial will immediately follow at South Buxton Cemetery.
