Daniel Lloyd Boone, 73, of Ocilla passed away Friday, August 21, 2026, at Irwin County Hospital in Ocilla. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2026, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Gordon Poole officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in the Chapel of Bowen- Donaldson from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service. Mr. Boone will be laid to rest at Wilkes Cemetery (Cook County) in Adel.
Born January 5, 1953, in Tampa, Florida, Daniel was the son of the late Clarence Lloyd Boone, Sr. and Vera Mae Stone Boone. In addition to his parents, Mr. Boone was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister-in-law, David M. and Mary Lou Boone, Donald L. Boone, Clarence L. Boone, Jr. and Stanley L. Boone; and two sisters and three brothers-in-law; Vera S. Boone, Patricia B. and Daniel Frederick, Bufford Strawbridge, and Charlie Staines.
Before becoming disabled, Daniel was a cook at Waffle House. He loved recording and watching movies and he loved joking around. His greatest joy came from helping people and giving to charity.
Left to cherish Mr. Boone’s memory are one brother, William Boone of Ocilla; five sisters and one brother-in-law, Shirley Strawbridge of Alabama, Diane Renae of Ocilla, Judy and Phillip Staines Sr. of Ray City, Brenda Staines of Lakeland, and Barbara Dorden and Mike Dorden of Maryland; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
