In Loving Memory of
Alganesh Haile Gebreslasie
With profound sadness and hearts filled with love, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother,
sister, relative, and friend, Alganesh, who peacefully departed this life on August 19, 2026.
Alganesh was a woman of tremendous strength, faith, sacrifice, and unconditional love. Her family was at the center of her life, and everything she did was rooted in her desire to give her children a better future. She made countless sacrifices throughout her life, including pursuing her dream of coming to America so that her children could have opportunities she had always hoped and prayed for them to receive.
She was more than our mother - she was our foundation, our protector, our teacher, and one of our greatest blessings.
She taught us the importance of family, perseverance, faith in God, and continuing forward even when life becomes difficult. The love and lessons she gave us will remain with us for the rest of our lives.
Alganesh loved her children deeply and was especially blessed by the joy of being a grandmother. Her grandchildren brought tremendous happiness into her life, and the love she had for them will forever remain a part of their lives.
Her passing has left an emptiness in our family that words cannot adequately describe. Life will never be the same without her. The photographs we once took together have become treasured memories, her voice is something we will long to hear again, and the moments we shared with her will now be held even closer to our hearts.
Although saying goodbye is incredibly painful, we find comfort in our faith and in knowing that she is no longer suffering. We believe she is resting peacefully in the presence of God and reunited in Heaven with loved ones who went before her, including her parents and our beloved Bobby. Alganesh leaves behind her loving children, grandchildren, surviving sister Zemam, extended family, and the many people whose lives were touched by her kindness, strength, and love.
Mom, we promise that the sacrifices you made for us will never be forgotten or taken for granted. We will continue pursuing our dreams, loving one another, raising our children with the values you gave us, and doing everything we can to make you proud.
Your physical presence may be gone from our lives, but your love will never leave us. You will live through your children, your grandchildren, the stories we tell, the traditions we carry forward, and every beautiful memory you gave us.
Until we meet again, Mom, please continue to watch over us and guide us. We will look for you in our dreams, speak to you through our prayers, and carry you in our hearts everywhere we go.
We love you beyond words, and we will miss you for the rest of our lives.
May your memory be eternal.
Memory Eternal.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 27, at 10 AM at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 186 Bradley St., Saco. Burial will follow at St. Demetrios Hellenic Orthodox Cemetery
