It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Diane (Trial) Jaillet on August 18, 2026, at the Cottages of Dartmouth, MA, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Born on June 1, 1951, in Fall River, MA, Diane was the beloved daughter of Raymond and Cecile (Francoeur) Trial, who predeceased her.
Diane's life was a testament to love, family, and community. She shared 53 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Paul Jaillet. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories, first in their home in Assonet where they raised their children, Nicole Croteau and Marc Jaillet and later at their home on the lake in Dartmouth, MA.
A graduate of Jesus Mary Academy in 1969, Diane's early career saw her working at New England Telephone in Fall River for a decade where she met her future husband. She later became a cherished stay-at-home mom, nurturing not only her own children but many others. Diane co-owned "Remember Me," a religious gift store, where she expressed her creativity through crafts. Later, she served as a secretary at K&R Coffee and EMI Electric.
But of all the roles Diane held throughout her life, none brought her greater joy than being a mother and grandmother. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family and found immeasurable happiness in caring for her grandchildren Danielle and Luke. She lovingly helped care for them so that her daughter could continue her career as a nurse and go on to become a Neonatal Nurse practitioner, which made her so proud. Being their Mimi was one of Diane's greatest joys and proudest accomplishments.
Diane's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was an active member of St. Bernard's Parish in Assonet for three decades, sharing her beautiful voice in the Folk Group and teaching CCD. Her involvement in Cursillo and participation in retreats reflected her deep spiritual commitment. Recently, she attended St. George and St. John the Baptist in Westport.
Diane had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome and loved. She was known for her warm hospitality and hosted countless gatherings, from lively cookouts to festive holiday parties. She was an exceptional cook and baker, with her annual Christmas cookies becoming a beloved family tradition. Summers were filled with memorable pool parties with laughter, stories and the people she loved most.
Diane had an innate talent for music, often gracing weddings and Sunday services with her harmonious singing voice. Her garden was a testament to her care and dedication, with her cherished rose bushes standing proudly. A talented crafter, she lovingly crocheted blankets for new family members. Diane also had a deep love for animals. She lovingly cared for her dogs Sasha, Peanut, and Rudy and adored her grand dogs Tucker, Cruise and Riley.
Diane's kindness, compassion, and unwavering support for those she loved defined her character. She was a strong advocate for her beliefs, yet tender and nurturing as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Diane's compassion extended far beyond her immediate family. She was an extraordinary and active participant in Stroke Buddies & Friends and the Westport Council on Aging where she formed many meaningful friendships and became a valued part of the community. She had a special ability to make people feel welcomed and cared for. Wherever Diane went she left her imprint. Through her kindness, generosity, laughter, friendship and willingness to be there for others, she made a lasting difference in the lives of so many people.
Diane is survived by her loving husband, Paul; her daughter Nicole and husband Tim of Taunton, her son Marc of Florida; her treasured grandchildren, Danielle and Luke; her siblings, Denise Tobiaz and husband Steven, Jeanine Desrosiers and her late husband Steven, Roland Trial and his wife Vicky, Roger Trial and his wife Heidi, and Paul Trial; many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends especially Andree and Joel Grafstein.
A celebration of Diane's life will be held on August 28, 2026.
Visitation will be from 4:00-5:30 PM followed by a 5:30 PM service at Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd, Westport, MA 02790.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association or Compassionate Care Hospice.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Cottages of Dartmouth, Compassionate Care Hospice-especially her nurse Danielle, and Bayada Home Care-especially her CNA Jessica, for their exceptional care and support. Your dedication allowed Diane to remain in her home as long as possible and brought comfort to her and her family during her final days.
