Obituary

Marie Anne Seder
STANDISH- Marie Anne Seder, 76, of Standish, Maine, went home to be with the Lord on August 16, 2026. She walked into His arms with her beloved husband, Seth, at her bedside. Born on August 14, 1950, in Brattleboro, Vermont, to Robert Arthur White and Lois Ruth (Clarke) White, Marie lived a life marked by wisdom, kindness, generosity, and wit.
Marie attended Keene State College, where she earned her certification in respiratory therapy. She later owned her own small business caning chairs and repairing furniture, work that reflected both her skillful hands and her care for preserving what was useful and beautiful. She also passed that craft on to others by teaching chair caning courses through adult education.
Service was an important part of Marie’s life. She was a faithful member of the Tree of Life Church for 48 years and chaired the “Monday Meal” nonprofit for more than 20 years. Through her church, civic work, and many relationships, Marie shared her time and gifts generously touching many members of the community.
Marie was extremely talented in the realm of crafting and loved working with her hands to create many lovely pieces. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, card making, mixed media, quilting, and many other crafts, and she often brought crafting projects with her when she visited her grandchildren. She also loved the Moosehead Lake region, especially riding the paper company roads of northern Maine and studying a map afterward to see where she had been, often embracing her own adventurous motto: “I’m not sure where we are, but we’re going to keep going until we get there.”
She was a voracious reader and also found joy in walking on the beach, spending winters in South Carolina, and traveling on overseas medical mission trips. Whether she was serving others, exploring a favorite place, or making something by hand, Marie brought warmth, humor, and thoughtfulness to the people around her.
Marie is survived by Seth I. Seder, her husband of 48 years; her son, Joshua Seder, and his wife, Lindsay Seder; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Seder, Abigail Seder, Adah Seder, and Grace Seder of Decatur, Indiana; and her brother, Robert White of Athens, Maine.
Marie was buried on August 21, 2026, at Cedar Brook Burial Grounds in Limington, Maine.
A celebration of life will be held at Tree of Life Church (1051 Roosevelt Trail, Windham, ME 04062) on 9/6/26 at 2:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Dempsey Center (11 Rock Row, Suite 410, Westbrook, ME 04092) in honor of Marie’s life and legacy.
