Obituary

WEBSTER – Sadly to say, Sally Ann (Katrenak) Carlson died Saturday, August 9, 2026 to join her sister Shirley Katrenak, her parents Joseph and Wanda (Gulczynski) Katrenak, and her daughter-in-law Katrina Carlson.

She leaves her husband and love of 55 years, David Carlson, Sr; her son, David Carlson, Jr. who was the “rainbow in her eyes”; her grandsons Colby and Garrett; her dear sister Nancy French and her husband Bob “French fries” French; her brother Joseph Katrenak and his wife Jeannie; her favorite nephew Rob French and Randy; her godchild Kim Foutain; her nephew Justin Barrows and her niece Ashly Barrows of whom she was so proud; and hers sister-in-law Candy Payne and Jeanine Carlson.

Sally came from a family of hairdressers and owned Sally’s Hair Express. She worked with her sister Shirley at Shirley K’s and with her sister Nancy at Nancy’s House of Beauty. Sally treated her customers like kings and queens.

Sally loved her John Deere tractor and would be in her yard all day working on her flower beds and vegetable garden. She greatly enjoyed being with Bob French: she loved his farm in Dudley and said she was a “farmerette.” She was especially close to her sister Nancy whom she called her “partner in crime and grime”; her brother-in-law Bob would shake his head and say: “Don’t ever underestimate what these two do!”

Always ready to help anyone at any time, Sally always had a smile on her face . She hosted wonderful Christmas parties. She had many friends on Facebook. In her sickness she never complained. She liked to go to the ice cream stand and order a sundae (but hold the ice cream and topping and just fill the cup with whipped cream).

Her favorite saint was Saint Anthony of Padua: he was her co-pilot in sickness and in health. We hope that she has met him and the gang above. Rest in Peace!

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Donations in her name may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street.
