Obituary

Elizabeth A. "Betty" (McLaughlin) Annucci, 96, of Worcester, passed away at the Jewish Community Healthcare Center on Sunday, August 9, 2026. She is survived by her husband of nearly 76 years, Stephen Annucci; four children, Nancy (Fulton) Annucci of Fairfax, VT, Karen Annucci of Worcester, Marilyn Annucci and Lawrence Annucci, both of Madison, WI; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by nine beloved siblings. “Betty” was born in Houlton, Maine, the daughter of Francis and Ella (McGrath) McLaughlin. After graduating from Houlton High School in 1947, Betty attended nursing school, which she loved, before returning home to care for her mother and starting a family. She was a lovely woman, generous and compassionate. At the age of 50, she attended Becker Junior College and earned a Medical Assistant degree, which enabled her to work happily in the medical field for several years. Betty had a quick sense of humor and a gentle manner—and was also “a tough ole bird,” as she liked to say. Light on her toes, Betty performed Irish tap dancing as a kid with her sisters and father, and she always liked to dance. She was an incredible cook, baker and homemaker who enjoyed a range of needlework crafts and sewing. She also held her own with word games and crossword puzzles. Quietly devout, she was a member of Christ the King Church and served for many years on the Bereavement Committee and on the Altar Linen Committee. The family would like to thank the nurses, CNAs, social workers, chaplains and staff at the Jewish Healthcare Center and the Jewish Healthcare Hospice (especially Kersten and Christie) for their exceptional care and kindness. Her memorial Mass will be announced at a later date. O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family with arrangements.
