Meropi Spaho passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, at the young age of 63, surrounded by her loving family.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, Theodhor, with whom she shared 42 wonderful years of marriage; her beloved son, Kostika, and his wife, Ica; her cherished daughter, Ina, and her husband, Emiljano; and her two treasured grandchildren, whom she was blessed to help raise and love until the very end.
She is also survived by her loving mother, Fillareti; her dear brother, Ylli, and his wife, Enilda; and her three beautiful nieces, Erinda, Ledia, and Yona, all of whom she loved dearly.
Meropi also leaves behind countless extended family members and dear friends whose lives were touched by her kindness, generosity, and unconditional love. Her passing has left an immeasurable void, and all who knew and loved her are heartbroken by the loss of such an extraordinary woman.
She was born in Korce, Albania to Fillareti Kono and the late Vasillaq Kono. From a young age she took on responsibilities such as cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping, and taking care of her little brother Ylli whom she loved so dearly. She worked as an accountant in the State Bank in Korce, Albania where she was adored and loved by everyone who had the pleasure to know her. She married the love of her life Theodhor in 1984, and raised two amazing children together.
In 1998, Meropi and Theodhor emigrated to the United States for more opportunities for their children. They left behind the careers they enjoyed and loved ones back in Albania, and sacrificed daily by working tirelessly to provide their children a great life. She worked for 27 years at Dunkin Donuts, where she became a familiar and welcoming face to countless customers and formed lasting friendships with her coworkers. She took great pride in her work and was known for her warm smile, strong work ethic, and genuine care for everyone she met.
She had the kind of heart that made everyone feel at home. She never needed the spotlight or asked for anything in return. She simply gave—her time, her energy, her kindness, her cooking, her laughter, and, most of all, her unconditional love. Caring for others wasn't something she did; it was who she was. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them, creating memories they will forever hold close to their hearts. Even in her last days, she made sure everyone was fed and taken care of. Selfless by nature, Meropi's door was always open.
Curious about the world, Meropi enjoyed watching YouTube videos that showcased beautiful places across the globe. Though she loved exploring these destinations from afar, what mattered most to her was the home she created and the people she filled it with. She also blessed us with beautiful and priceless crocheted blankets, pillows, and clothing.
To us, she wasn't just a wife, daughter, sister, mother, or grandmother. She was the heart of our family. She was the person who held us together, who celebrated our joys, carried our burdens, and made ordinary days feel special simply because she was there.
The world feels quieter without her beautiful smile, her voice, and the comfort of knowing she was only a phone call or a hug away. But the love she gave did not end with her passing. It lives on in every lesson she taught us, every tradition she created, every meal made with love, every act of kindness inspired by her, and every person whose life was better because she was in it.
If we measure a life by the number of hearts it touched, then my mom lived an extraordinary one. She was our greatest blessing, our safe place, and our example of what it means to love without limits. We will miss her every day, but we will carry her love with us for the rest of our lives.
She wasn't famous, but she was unforgettable. She wasn't perfect, but to those who knew her, she was as close to an angel as this world could know. She was an angel on earth and now an angel in Heaven reunited with her loving father “Babi Vaska”. Our beloved “Oki, Mami Oki, and Nëna Oki” will be missed dearly until we meet again.
Family and friends can gather on Tuesday, August 11th in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
