James E. Groves Jr., passed away, Friday, August 7, 2026, in Warner Robins, GA. He was born in Thomas County, GA, April 16, 1936. Preceding him in death is his loving parents, James Elzie Groves Sr. and Lela Jenkins Groves; and two brothers, Walter Wyatt Groves and Isaac Monroe Groves.
Survivors include six siblings, Beatrice Adcock (Donald, deceased) of Eldorado, Alice Denny of Tifton, Warren Groves of Valdosta, Mitchell Groves of Eldorado, Helen DeVol (Thomas) of Fort Valley, and Joseph Groves (Teresa) of Cairo; and many nieces and nephews.
James was involved in farm work in Tift County most of his life. He lived in Chula for many years. He grew up in the country and enjoyed this life. After retirement, he lived in Adel, then Warner Robins, GA near family.
James enjoyed spending time with family, especially during holidays! He loved interacting with his nieces and nephews during these times. James enjoyed traveling with family members and he always loved to listen to country music!
James was loved by his parents, siblings, nieces, nephews and everyone who knew him. He will be missed!
James’ funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 9, 2026, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. Mr. Groves will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Mr. Groves’ nephews will serve as pallbearers.
