Marie T. (Bresnahan) Charette

CHICOPEE – Marie T. (Bresnahan) Charette, 91, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, August 3, 2026. She passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on May 2, 1935, a beloved daughter of the late John J. and Grace E. (Riley) Bresnahan. She was raised in Holyoke and graduated from Rosary High School. She was a military wife and lived around the country. While living in Rome, New York, she was a Girl Scout Leader and Coordinator. She was employed as one of the first Security Guards at the Grand Forks International Airport while living in North Dakota. She settled in Chicopee in 1974 where she lived the remainder of her life. Her greatest accomplishment that she was most proud of was raising her family. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee where she was a member of the Saint Anne Sodality Guild. During her leisure time, she enjoyed playing the piano and was an avid reader. Marie was very creative woman who enjoyed painting, wool rug braiding, and basket weaving. She was an accomplished seamstress, making children’s clothes as well as making several wedding dresses and prom dresses. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She leaves her beloved husband and soul mate, Armand P. Charette. They were married on June 12, 1954 at Saint Anne Church in Chicopee and they were blessed with over 72 years of happiness together. She also leaves her three loving and devoted children, Lynn M. Shedd and her fiancé, Donald Nadeau, of Westfield, Michael P. Charette, and Lisa A. Charette and her partner, Pete Rivers, all of Chicopee; her two cherished grandchildren, Jason Shedd and his wife, Melissa, of Thompson, CT, and Amie Pockette and her husband, Adam, of Swanton, VT; her three cherished great grandchildren, Ethan Shedd, and Eric and Gabrielle Pockette; her dear brother-in-law, Michael Charette and his wife, Joyce, of South Hadley; her two dear sisters-in-law, Marie A. Chateneuf of South Hadley, and Carol Charette of Holyoke; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her dear brother, John “Jack” Bresnahan; and her two dear brothers-in-law, Norman Charette and Ronald Chateneuf. Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The funeral home parking lot is located in the rear.
