Obituary

AUBURN - Barbara J. Roteth, 89, formerly of Dudley, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026. Barbara was born in Wilsonville, CT the daughter of Stanley and Edith (DeCarli) Roteth.

Barbara graduated from St. Louis High School and later studied computer and word processing operations. She worked at the former Commerce Insurance Co. in Webster for many years, beginning when Commerce Insurance was in its infancy. In her later years she worked for the VNA of Worcester County where she made many friends before retiring in 2019. Barbara was a devout member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Dudley and sang in their church choir for years. She enjoyed attending local concerts, walking the trails at Webster Lake and traveling to Rhode Island beaches. Most of all, Barbara loved her Red Sox.

Barbara is survived by her sister, Beverly Kenniston and her husband, Merton, of West Brookfield; two nephews, Benjamin Potvin and his wife, Allison, of Belmont, North Carolina and Joshua Potvin and his wife, Heidi, of West Brookfield; many cousins and five grand nephew and nieces.

The family offers their sincere appreciation to Brookdale Eddy Pond East for the exceptional care they provided to Barbara during recent years. The staff and residents lovingly referred to Barbara as “the mayor”.

At Barbara's request, a private graveside service will be held.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, Webster. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 24 Dudley Hill Road, Dudley, MA 01571.
