Jerry “Wayne” Richards, 85 of Tifton passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Tift Regional Medical Center. No formal services for Mr. Richards are planned at this time.
Mr. Richards was born on September 13, 1940, in Tifton Georgia to the late William Jerry Richards and Lois O'Neal Richards. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church who loved the Lord with all his heart, proud owner of Richard & Son’s Construction, and United States Airforce Veteran. Mr. Richards was known as a perfectionist and enjoyed keeping his yards superbly kept. He was easy going and enjoyed joking around with those in his company.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Richards was preceded in death by one son; David Richards, and one grandson; Kenneth “Kenny” Richards.
To cherish his memory, Mr. Richards leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Gail Gillett Richards of Tifton, one son and daughter-in-law; Daryl and Debbie Richards of Ocilla, one daughter and son-in-law; Stephanie and Charles Hill of Tifton, one granddaughter; Niki Powell and her husband Rick, also of Tifton and two sisters and brothers-in-law; Carol and William Justine of Tifton, and Gail and Johnny Copeland of Florence, Alabama.
